Hot off the back of their shock Hyundai Mercury Prize nomination last week, experimental act The Comet Is Coming have shared new single 'Journey Through the Asteroid Belt'. Taking influence from the avant-garde genius that was Sun Ra, the London trio are giving jazz a psychedelic makeover by infusing electronic elements to their saxophone-led sound. Completely unique, this single is a cosmic tour through improvisation and freeform playing and shows why the band have been given the biggest nod of their career. They may be the outsiders for the prize, but they certainly deserve the recognition. - SJ
